Price guide to silver tea caddies. Silver tea caddies were popular during the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Few 17th century tea caddies are found today. The majority of silver tea caddies tended to have a rectangular form although some had elliptical and octagonal shapes especially by the late 1700’s.

Height 5 inches (12.6 cm.), approximately 18 ounces, all in. Good condition overall; clearly hallmarked; lead liner is not removable and hence inlcuded in the weight; retains original key . American silver tea caddy, Bigelow, Kennard & Co., Boston, circa 1870 rectangular with cut corners, each side with bright-cut geometric paneling enclosing a reserve, the front with monogram CG, the sides with chinoiserie scenes, the first of a figure with parasol, the second of a seated couple, the back unengraved, hinged cover marked on base length 4 7/8 in.
