A fine white and russet jade openwork plaque
Ming Dynasty
Exquisitely carved in high relief with a long twisting chilong amidst reticulated leafy floral scrolls issuing two blooming peonies picked out in russet, the stone of even pale white tone with some russet inclusions, the plaque inset on top of the cover of the wood box decorated with silver-wire inlay. 7.5cm (3in) wide.

A WHITE JADE INSCRIBED OVAL BOX AND COVER
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The cover is reserved in the centre with an elliptical cartouche enclosing a poetic inscription followed by two seals Qian and Long, encircled by four taotie masks. The shallow box has a short foot of conforming shape. The stone is of a warm white tone with russet streaks and faint mottling.

19th Century
The square form raised on four bracket feet, each side fitted with plain mottled celadon and gray jade panels, the hinged cover inset with a reticulated celadon jade plaque depicting a butterfly beneath a ‘double happiness’ character and bordered by scrolling vines and archaistic dragon scrolls, the base stamped Edward I. Farmer, New York. Height 1 7/8 inches, width 3 1/4 inches, depth 3 1/4 inches.

The domed cover carved in low relief with a shou medallion encircled by stylized lotus petals, all enclosed surrounded by archaistic spiral and geometric design, the fitted box raised on a low foot, the translucent stone of a pale greenish white color with russet inclusions. Qing Dynasty period.
